How forward and reverse direction are determined

Forward and reverse Daiun are determined from the yin or yang quality of the Year Stem together with the traditional sex category. Yang-year males and yin-year females move forward; the others move in reverse. This is a traditional calculation category, not a ranking of personality or ability.

The starting age comes from days to a seasonal boundary

Forward cycles use the distance from birth to the next seasonal boundary, while reverse cycles use the distance from the previous boundary to birth. The count is converted at roughly three days per year and rounded under the adopted method, producing a start age from 1 to 10.

What does the current Daiun mean?

The current cycle does not tell you exactly what event must happen. It is a supporting layer showing which strengths or experiences may move to the foreground during that decade.
